To clarify the video detail, for future’s sake… The question begins at 8:37.

Chris’ reply begins at 9:05. At 9:26, “Just like now, you buy a game package. I’m gonna start with my Aurora. I’m gonna start with my hornet or something.” 9:36 has “We wouldn’t be selling the digital ships like we do now separately.”

Honestly, I don’t expect them to keep any promise. They’ll always find some funny way to get around it.

It’s Christmas Eve! To celebrate, a new letter from Chris Roberts and a holiday sale! New Euro exchange rate incoming, so buy more at the old rate! Don’t forget, the Unmelting and BuyBack tools do NOT let you use store credit at the moment. Don’t let that FRESH holiday cash burden your wallet!

As an extra late bonus, TrackIR updates their website to feature Star Citizen! Except support has been broken in the launch of Alpha 2.0 for quite a while (HydroBIGBANG is a celebrity). Welcome to Christmas Eve space simmers! Enjoy your mouse flight and aim.

In our juicy new letter, we have Crash Roberts thanking folks for contributing to a “bold game that doesn’t compromise!” Yep, infinite budget, infinite scope creep, no delivery date. He is “Hiring the best talent possible” and they are slowly leaving. Lack of money? Frustration? Toxic management? Only the Escapist and Derek knows!

Mr. Crash proudly proclaims “2.0 shows the naysayers it can be done!” The heretics have to say, “substantial part of the promised game”? Nope nope nope. CHARGEBACK!

“80,000 backers have explored Crusader in 2.0 in the week since its launch.” Wow, with 1,118,671 citizens, ahem accounts, that leaves us with only 7% ever playing the game. Fantastic. No need to worry about the 859,527 UEE fleet number.

“2016 is going to be a great year for Star Citizen!” Oh yes, yes it will. More sales, the Esperia Prowler LTI concept sale, maybe a new corvette. Since wave 4 is almost over… After that a wave 5 reveal?! Everything to get (as much of) SQ42 out the door! Don’t forget, most folks are only getting a third of the story. All of you kickstarters, originals, and veterans, are the most important backers for getting this project off the ground.

Do your part, citizen. “Your pledges have made all this possible.”

          @ Derek

I believe our discussions have been fun and incredibly helpful to moderate outsiders. The comment from Petar makes me wonder what Chris has instructed his engineers to scrap and rewrite for AC back in 2013-2014. If the original CE netcode was close enough to do what Chris is using as an excuse now (for ~40 players per instance), that means either Chris is beyond idiotic and getting in the way of his engineers, or lying, or both and has created an even larger mess. Hopefully, one day you can share the confidential secrets you have learned.

          @ Hotsauce ShoTYME

You re-reminded me of this cringy video… technically Derek did first in Oct 2015. I had always suspected that Sandi was the wife, but as long as she didn’t get in the way, it didn’t matter (2013 mindset). Time flies.

          @ B B

You have made me question what type of Crytek engineers are working at the Frankfurt office. I suspect the folks at Frankfurt are mainly specializing in graphics, art, textures, cinematics, and motion capture features. Basically, anyone that can contribute to, or produce a good movie for SQ42.

Ah well. No point in hoping for a fun game to come out. Chris wants his mouse flight, he’ll get it. And his cringy script writing too.

It’s been brought to my attention (glancing chatter at various places) that the CE procgen (mod) tutorial says, “In this article by Sean Tracy and Paul Reindell, authors of CryENGINE 3 Game Development: Beginner’s Guide”, yes, they are important employees at CIG. And… uh… what?

Did people forget that Dan Tracy is also an employee at CIG? Oh wait, was an employee, the lead technical designer, left in October. “Criminal” and “Kamikaze” were part of the MWLL team. Both extremely talented brothers that joined Crytek.

Why did Dan leave? After all, he has the skills and talent to help make the BDSSE, through a modified CryEngine. You would think… since Chris needs a heavily modified CE, Dan would be on the project, when there is serious work that needs to be done. He was at CIG since February 2013. He has been working on this custom CE for so long, losing him in any way would be detrimental towards progress.

Alpha 2.0 is too darn buggy, and one of the original custom CE devs is gone. It’s impressive no one questions these things.

Instead, white knights are saying that Derek took Chris’ quote out of context to slander SC again. “Selective perception” being one insult. Total lack of slightly critical thinking to connect what Derek and Chris are saying… The custom CryEngine still needs a massive amount of work to even begin to go MMO.

As an old backer, I never voted for SC to become a MMO. I also miss Dan. I hope he finds good work.

About darn time… CryEngine was acceptable (enough) for the original game from the old website. I have been waiting for the excuse and begging phase. Let’s see how many whales cobble up the rest of their savings, benefits, and even loans to try and save this project.

“Refactor the updating of the objects and also the network messaging”… heh. Didn’t Chris delay the release of AC to redo the network stack? What the hell did they code back in 2014? What are they even using now?

It just proves again… Chris has been out of the industry for so long, he has no idea of the costs and technology involved, and scope creeped the project from the very beginning. They really should have made the single player game and coop campaign first. But nope. Motion capture and movies.

Maybe there will be a new Idris variant for sale? The corvette still hasn’t been seen. Just like with LTI, maybe the F8 lighting will finally be released.

I didn’t realize Batgirl was in the $4000 range. All she has now is a forum badge from the vanguard minigame. That goon observer was a brave soul. Insane, but with a purpose. More evidence to stretch the definition of “alpha.”

The Redbull article doesn’t have any comments enabled. I am curious how the white knights would take the article.

I made a custom xml set for my warthog, and it was the smartest thing to ever do. Though I had to update it whenever a new patch hits, and changes something not documented.

The fact they cannot get basic controls sorted out this late into development, or even AC release… I have to wonder if the folks hired by Chris are even semi competent for their loyalty. The standard binds for any of the joysticks, are dirt terrible. I do have other joysticks to verify CIGs stupidity.

The Controller Katamari is still one of the saddest things to read. Those deluded folks think someone at CIG cares, they hope to convince Chris to make major changes… So sad, and funny.

                    @ Derek

Of those 3 accounts deleted, were 2 of them from folks that never posted here before? Just curious what kind of group, or maybe a single person, is attacking the forums.

I think we’ll be seeing a lot more. Desperation hurts.
