I hope so. I know Derek is working on things and it takes time but it would be nice if a group/company/whatever with no ties to SC or Derek went after them for business reasons such as this plagarism and nailed them. It would be a shock to the cultists. I would want full financial disclosure as part of whatever they did. No settling for an estimate with a check from CIG but getting actual numbers.
June 8, 2016 at 6:21 pm #3645Yes, they are really a toothless agency with no enforcement powers at all. They are basically a rating system for businesses and all they can do is post the results but as you said every little bit helps. Just one more dissatisfied customer and with enough people stay away.
June 8, 2016 at 6:25 pm #3646It would be nice. I can’t see employees doing much except quitting the company but that does hurt. Some of their stories may come out and if they have violated any US labor laws that could be actionable if they wanted to pursue it. Backers can’t do much unless we do a class action suit of some sort but then maybe some lawyer will take it for a percentage of the proceeds. At this point it’s not about money but putting a stop to the scam and having those responsible serve time.
June 8, 2016 at 7:04 pm #3647Star Citizen devs caught in yet ANOTHER plagiarism scandal…
So this morning I wrote up an article about CIG artists using stock image assets without permission or purchase.
You can read about that here: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sop3k1
Well, it looks like more evidence of them doing this elsewhere has now surfaced. This time, the Strike Vector (another game) logo, appears in a concept image for one of the ships in the game.
This is the original page from Google cache: http://goo.gl/kDaFgz
The two images with 404 links on the above page are the originals which used to be here:

Once this news surfaced today – again dug up by Goons (who else?) – CIG removed the image.
More proof (animated GIFs) here:

This is CIG. There’s always more; and it’s always worse.
For the record, this is a company that around 500K backers gave $115 million to make a game and which, five years later, neither has a vertical slice, nor 10% of what was promised in Oct 2012 to be delivered in Nov 2014. It is now 18 months past due and CIG have, thus far, refused to not only provide financial accountability for the project, and refunds, but continue to delete forum threads, and ignore emails from backers who are seeking these things promised in the ToS that CIG constructed.UPDATE: It is even in a set of art assets sent to media
June 8, 2016 at 7:23 pm #3648There was the whole AMD thing where AMD offered their customers SC ship as part of their Never Settle promo.
I wonder if it would be possible to get them involved as the promo offered hasn’t been delivered.
Off the top of my head, I think in the UK by law you can’t offer a free or promo item as inducement to buy and have that free item of sub standard quality/exempt from consumer protection just because it is “free”.
June 8, 2016 at 7:25 pm #3649You would think they would know that with Ortwin being a hotshot lawyer and all !
June 8, 2016 at 7:41 pm #3650I suspect that Lesnick has at least one copy of that sandy cardboard cutout with a hole in the buttock area so he can keep licking her ass whilst he is at home.
He can’t get enough at “work”
June 8, 2016 at 8:38 pm #3651LOL!! Well, the Citizencon 2015 limited edition poster they sold (!) also used stock art (1, 2, 3). Look for White shirt guy. He’s in the center to the back, under a tree. And it’s got a Hilton logo in it as well.
