You know, i’v been following the SC thread over at SA closely and a goon posted this guy’s Artstation, he works or worked at illfonic for Star Marine.

I’m noticing 3 things

1)  Anyone who’s telling me they  weren’t up for the task are liars. This is some impressive work.

2) Look at the props the guy made, all the descriptions tell the same ” <span style=”color: #bbbbbb; font-family: ‘Open Sans’, ‘Helvetica Neue’, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; letter-spacing: 0.21px; line-height: 25.2px; background-color: #222222;”>No concept was provided so I worked closely with the art lead” </span>

This tell’s me there has been no real lead since the very beginning, well seems normal when the chairman changes his vision every mil.

3) The fact he put those images on his station tell’s me they are still assets from illfonic and NOT CLOUD or else he would probably fall under NDA.

Fascinating information in this post.

The thing I’m more interested is, is you mentioned this before( I think in your first SC blog )

At this point the CE has been modified to the core, that it has turned in this sort of Frankenstein of an engine, you said before that Crytek has very strict license rules. you have different types of licences for various purposes.

Where does SC fall in this category? Can we still call it the CE?

In short, will they ever be allowed to use the engine once/if the game launches? If the game stays crappy as it is, wouldn’t that hurt Crytek business?
What about all the coders who left the company to go work over at Cloud?

About ilftonic, I would love to know what happened there. Their name has been thrown in the mud because of SC.
If I was the CEO I would be pissed of by all the slander, for all we know they did perfectly what they where asked to do.

I spend time looking for serous articles relating SC, and by serious I mean actually reporting. But nothing, it seems to me a lot of blogs/sites are to scared to lose readers.

I just don’t understand why so little has come forward in terms of investigating. How hard can it be?

I expect a few artists out there who are still waiting for their checks. I also wondering why Illfonic hasn’t come forward and try to clear their name.. Stuff like that.

I think I should clarify,

CR might have started with a genuine dream of a new game, to re-invent the old games.
However once the money started flowing in, he went nuts.

Like what has been shown over and over again, every single time CR had a project where he was the one making all the decisions it went horribly wrong.
The guy has been out the industrie for what, 20 years now? He has no clue how these days games run, whats capable and whats not; I mean, Crysis is a damn FPS engine, and they still can’t manage to create some FPS content. And still no one bats an eye.

The community is a cult, they move on the internet like locust and find every negative article/comment and jump on it and by sheer numbers they remove any criticism. I actually feel anger towards most of them, because they are part of the problem and in a big way.

We as gamers are always yapping how those big studios put profits before actual content, thats why KS funded games would change the playfield.
Yet we now how a 100 million invested company, with no oversight, even tho this should be mandatory. Actually a real game studio gives more transparency then Cloud does.
In my book, Cloud Imperium is worse then all the above ( EA, SONY etc.. ) Heck, sure DLC’s are a big scam but at least the content is there, ready.
In this instance we have JPEG’s and promisses with a 3 digit price tage on them. FFS a referral program in an alpha… and when I say alpha I laugh.

This shouldn’t even be called an alpha, ffs this can barely be called proof of concept.  And people find this normal? WTF man?!
Then we have this whole Hollywood actor stuff…

Seriously, I wonder how many millions went towards those actors.. like seriously… What do you think Hammil and oldman asked for a few lines?
That could have gone, to you know actually making the game. And tbh, what I saw was mediocre, even with all the fancy tech they say they have.

Then we Sandi lined up with them big names, a washed out producer with a (no one’s ever heard of her)actress. The fact she was cast for a role just proves whats wrong with the whole management. How can she be put on the same screen as a name like Oldman, or Hammil.

NEPOTISM, and again no one cares!

Not to mention the whole restoration hardware store they ransacked. And yet people seem to be fine seeing thousands of dollars being spend on everything except the game.

 

Take Mark Jacobs for example, he knows how to make a game. Have you seen their office? Its just a few chairs and a table and they do what they are doing. And they are doing an amazing job.
Bling comes later, get the code/engine out the door first.
