That’s disappointing. I think, if anything, the FTC needs to take a stance and get some major consumer protection statutes put in place for future crowdfunding projects. CR is obviously exploiting the shit out of the fact that crowdfunding is a proverbial “wild west.”
So I’ve tried playing nice with Customer Support, but they just refuse to issue my refund. Another problem is that I made all of the transactions for my pledges on my debit card through PayPal, and I live in South Korea with few consumer protections. My bank said that they won’t issue a chargeback. I’ve contacted the BBB, FTC, ICPEN, and other consumer advocacy groups, but I’ve not gotten any responses. At this point, my options are quite limited.
Also, after voicing my displeasure on Reddit and the SC forums, I got this little threat on top of a frivolous probation:
Due to forum history you are now being referred for perma review by CIG a further message will be sent following the result of this.
Thank You

With my options limited, I’m now seeking information on any ongoing legal action. Are there any class action lawsuits being prepared yet that I can join in on? If you have information, please point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Did you read their latest monthly studio report?
“With the first 30 days of 2016 behind us, we still have another 335 left to go. That leaves us plenty of time for new ships, new features, new missions, and new art to make its way into the universe.”
They are practically promising feature creep and delays all throughout 2016. Those same “new ships and features” will be used as a justification for delay of SQ42.
It looks like they are trying to bury that completely legitimate discussion, so they threw it into a katamari thread. The link in my OP was broken. Here is the new link to the discussion.
My final update for a while.
I have logged formal complaints with the following agencies:
The Federal Trade Commission of the United States, the Better Business Bureau of the United States, econsumer.gov of the International Consumer Protection and Enforcement Network, and the Korea Consumer Agency.
I guess there’s not much more that I can do for now other than sit back and wait to get responses from these agencies.
Thanks for the useful information in this thread.
I went ahead and filed a formal complaint with the BBB as well.
I have been trying to figure out what to do when CIG customer support stopped responding responding to my refund request ticket suddenly.
I decided to ask the community what I should do from this point (seeking an escalation pathway) . You can read that discussion here
I never imagined the kind of petulant hostility I would get for asking such an honest and simple question.
I simply want to walk away from the project and the community that treats it’s fellows like this.
I logged a complaint with the FTC. What more can be done? Helpful suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
