That boggles the mind. The amount of cocaine and hookers this guy could have had for $30K. If you are going to burn through that kind of cash–you might as well have fun along the way. I feel sorry for this guy. His friends should have pointed him towards the adult sections of CraigsList rather than ship porn.

I’ll take it down in a few days.I’m providing this image with an integral NOTE, however: part of my original payment (the part that didn’t go through Kickstarter) was to Twin Bros Gmbh. as well and, to my knowledge, back at the beginning, that’s just how things went as – according to them – CIG (RSI back then) didn’t have a legal presence in EU. In fact, i’ve now remembered that you used to be redirected to Twin Bros Gmbh. payment form, from the CIG store front, if your address was within EU or one of the European (non-EU) countries.
You have touched on the one thing that everyone seems to overlook: “still just wondering when i get to fly my 300i around space looking for trouble to stir up or find cool things to see.”
It has taken from 2012 to maybe sometime soon to get multicrew into the game. The team at CIG has been unable to get Star Marine (the FPS portion) working using a game engine designed for FPS games. Backers have dreamed up some amazing game play scenarios. So here is the nugget to munch on–if it has taken from 2012 to 2016 to get SOME of the basic game elements working–how much longer will it take to create the gameplay elements that would allow gamers to “look for trouble to stir up or find cool things to see”? All of these cool game mechanics–space farming, bounty hunting, ship repair, component manufacturing–all need to be created/coded. Who is going to do the work and how long will it take them? The top tier developers that worked for CIG at one time have left the company. The developers left are flunkies that couldn’t get out of community college. The white knights seem to think shuttering Austin and expanding the Frankfurt office is a great thing. Is it? I’ll leave you with this thought–name any top selling game created in Germany. (Hint: Germany is where game studios go to die.)
That’s the issue right there. Sure Chris has stated that this development evolves over time. However, that’s not the original promise. And as I said in my latest blog, thus far, not even 10% of what was promised has been delivered. And 2016 is already here.
I agree that people who have spent money up to this point deserve the option of a refund and I will agree that it definitely appears as though there’s some mismanagement going on with said funds.
I did notice a lot of justification in the interview, but I personally doubt he’s justifying it so much for himself, but more because he will get judged about it.
Money can be pretty relative. Bill Gates could drop 20 million on this game and it would be equivalent to a Joe dropping $45 dollars. I think passing judgement on how someone spends their own money is borderline juvenile.
Who knows? Maybe he did blow his kids college fund and divorce his wife? Either way, it’s his money.
